"The Bible is not the light of the world, it is the light of the Church. But the world does not read the Bible, the world reads Christians! You are the light of the world."
Statement of Faith
The following beliefs define the foundation of Eagle Spring Baptist Church, grounded in the eternal truths of Scripture. Every aspect of our teaching, ministry, and mission flows from these biblical doctrines, which guide us in faith and practice.
The Bible
We believe the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is the verbally inspired Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16) We believe the most accurate translation for English-speakers is the King James Version. We preach and teach from the KJV in the pulpit and classrooms.
Jesus
We believe Jesus Christ was born of Mary the virgin and is the very Son of God. (Matthew 1:23)
Salvation
•We believe that Christ died for our sins.
(I Corinthians 15:3)
•We believe that He arose from the grave the third day.
•We believe that He arose from the grave the third day.
(I Corinthians 15:4)
•We believe that He alone is the mediator and intercessor between God and man.
•We believe that He alone is the mediator and intercessor between God and man.
(I Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:25)
•We believe that in order to be “saved” the spirit must be born again.
•We believe that in order to be “saved” the spirit must be born again.
(John 3:3)
•We believe that the Holy Spirit rebirths our spirit when we repent and believe (have faith).
•We believe that the Holy Spirit rebirths our spirit when we repent and believe (have faith).
(Acts 3:19; 17:13; John 3:16)
•We believe that salvation is by God's grace through faith, a gift of God, and not by works.
•We believe that salvation is by God's grace through faith, a gift of God, and not by works.
(Ephesians 2:8-10)
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe that immersion baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only two ordinances that Jesus left for His church, and that they are pictorial and memorial in nature. We believe that every born-again soul should declare his/her faith through baptism by immersion in water. (Romans 6:4-5) We believe that the Lord's Supper is to be observed as a local body, with unleavened bread and pure grape juice which memorialize his broken body and shed blood. (I Corinthians 11:23-26)
Once Saved, Always Saved
We believe that Christ keeps those who are born again eternally secure. (II Timothy 1:12; John 10:28)
Biblical Separation
We believe that Christians are called to separation from worldly, sinful practices, unto a life of usefulness for Christ. (II Corinthians 6:17)
The Local Church
We believe a church is an independent, local, visible body of baptized believers whose mission is to preach and teach the gospel of salvation. (Matthew 28:18-20)
