Jeremy Peifer
Pastor & Intergenerational Discipleship
My name is Jeremy Peifer; I am the pastor here at Eagle Springs Baptist Church in McGregor, Texas.
I was raised near Herndon, PA – a small Appalachian logging/mining/farming/dairy area on the banks of the Susquehanna River. I enlisted as an infantryman in the Army reserve component when I was in high school; graduating college five+ years later, I was commissioned a Regular Army Infantry Lieutenant and reported to Georgia, then Hawaii. In 2000, I was sent back to Georgia for training, and reported into Fort Drum, NY in September 2001. In the next three years I deployed on combat tours to Afghanistan twice, then was sent to teach in Fort Polk, LA.
God moves in His ways and according to His will. In the trauma and loss of those first two deployments, I was in a condition of brokenness in January 2006 - I recognized my sinful, lost condition, realized no works of my own could save me, and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
My wife, DeAnna, was born in Houston, TX; as a child, her family moved to Oklahoma. We met in 2005 and were married in 2006; that began the adventure of being a married Army officer in the Global War on Terror. Rapidly, we were transferred from Louisiana to Kentucky to California to Virginia to New York to Kansas to South Carolina. During this period (2007-2019), we lived in nine houses, and accumulated seven children, three more combat tours to Afghanistan, two secular master’s degrees, and a lot of exposure as we moved from church to church.
My call to ministry came during my tour as the III Corps G5 Chief of Strategic Plans, in Fort Hood TX; I had brought DeAnna home to Texas, and we had found a church home and family. I had ministered to my children all the years but began teaching adult Sunday School in 2020 at Eagle Springs Baptist, under the tutelage of an Independent pastor. Acts 9:5 overshadowed me: Jesus and Saul upon the Damascus Road - "…it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."
I had read it countless times by November 2021; it was the final pin in the tumbler as I was facing medical retirement from the Army – I had been resisting Jesus’ call, and His preparation of me. In 2022, I was accepted to the Crown College of the Bible in Powell, TN, and completed their Master of Ministry in May 2024. I was called and ordained by Eagle Springs Baptist in October 2024.

DeAnna "Dee" Peifer
Music Coordinator & Children's Discipleship
DeAnna has been happily married to Jeremy for nearly 20 years. During Jeremy's service in the U.S. Army, they were blessed with seven children, two boys and five girls, ranging in age from 6 to 16. Deeply devoted to ministry and serving the Lord, Dee shares her passion with her family, teaching her children alongside Jeremy on their farm. She finds joy in praising the Lord through song, not only enjoying hymns but also delving into the stories behind them, which adds a deeper meaning to her worship. Dee expresses her creativity through gardening and creating beautiful mosaics. One of her favorite Bible verses, Galatians 6:9, serves as a constant reminder: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
